December Favourites

Hey guys! Welcome to day 11 of Christmas + New Years with A Little bit of Life!!!! I can hardly believe he are almost done! Only 3 days left! What can I say, time flies when you are having fun, and I extremely hope you guys’ have been enjoying the series of posts I’ve done over the past (almost) two weeks now!! Don’t forget to go back and check out the last 10 posts if you’ve missed them up until now!! Considering how it is new years eve’ and that last day of december, and 2015, I thought I would end the month with my favourites from the past month!! Let’s do it!!

Peter Pauper Press Versailles Journal

I received this journal for my birthday in october and because I never got to show it to you guys, I thought I would put it in my December favourites. I ADORE this journal. The design and feel of the hard cover is beautiful and so alike a seventeenth-century book, it’s awesome. When you open it the pages are very wide as well, with plenty of room for writing which is also very awesome. Simply put: I love this and I love writing in it. It makes me feel very classy.

Yves Rocher Limited Edition Pear Caramel Candle

This was another birthday gift, but I have been loving it this month alot because the scent is a very wintery one. It smells sweet with a little twinge of something extra that is kinda hard to describe, so you will just have to go smell it yourself. I have already lit it a couple of times this break and it has been just perfect to have around. I highly recommend this one!

Glo-Away Glow-in-the-Dark Gel/ My Ceiling

This was a gift I receives from my secret santa this month after being in a friend of ours’ room and seeing that she had glow in the dark stars on her ceiling. When i saw them, I absolutely loved it and when my secret santa saw this I guess that is when she decided to buy it for me! I am so glad she did because I spend at least 10 minutes every night now just staring at the lovely stars I have on my ceiling. Definitely one of my number one favourites from this month, and I highly recommend you try it on your ceiling too!

Dove Refresh + Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo

I bought this last month with a gift card for my hair when it is straight, and I go a couple of days without washing it. And it is works SO WELL. It smells nice, and leaves your hair feeling light, and refreshed! It really does make your hair cleaner, less oily than it was before, and adds a nice amount of volume to your hair. I have friends that I recommended this too, and they tried it and loved it as well!!! So if you are looking for a dry shampoo…… This one is definitely worth a try.

Winter by Marissa Meyer

I thought I would throw a book I read and liked this month in here just for fun and old times sake. Winter by Marissa Meyer is the 4th and final instalment of the Lunar Chronicles and I enjoyed the ending we were left with so much. The modern twists on classical fairytale stories are awesome, along with all the awesome, easy to love characters, and super fun and intriguing plot. This series is definitely worth a read if you need some to read! And if yo wand more book recommendation, or just like reading book reviews, tags and other bookish posts don’t forget to check out my book blog, My Book Life, where I have done a couple of posts so far this week.

That’s everything for this month! Let me know in the comments below what some of your favourite items were from this month, because I love hearing from you guys! Thanks for reading and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you enjoyed this little bit of life.

What you Can do while Home on your Own on New Years Eve

Hey Everyone! Welcome to Day 10 of Christmas + New Years’ with A Little Bit Of Life!! The New Year is almost upon us which means soon it will be 2016!! I can’t believe how fast this year has gone or even that the year is going to be 2016. It’s all very crazy but today I decided to come at you guys’ with my first new years’ post now that the New Year is only a day away. If I am being real with you guys’, I have spent many a new year ‘s eve on my own. So I thought it would be cool if I shared with you guys’ some special things you can do on New Years, from home, and possibly, if you are on your own. Let’s do it!!

1 – Write A Letter To Yourself

I have done this every single new years’ eve for awhile now and I really like it. Basically what you do is you write a letter to your future self about your hopes and dreams for this new year (or whatever you would like really) to open on next years’ new years’ eve. Then you put it in it a envelope and seal it away till the next year! I always like doing this because I really like being able to read what my past self wanted me to know/ do about the year to come and being able to reflect and see what’s happened and what’s changed.

2 – Make Yourself A Nice Meal

Just because you are not going out for new years’ does not mean you can’t have a nice meal! Take the time to find a recipe for something you’ve always wanted to try, or something that you really like eating and make it for your new years’ meal! You can even go as far as to set up the table a bit. Oh, and don’t forget to make yourself a nice desert too!

3 – Dance and Sing!

This is probably the simplest and most basic thing you could do, but it’s most likely the funnest too. Throw on some of your favourite music from 2015 and Dance around your house to it! Sing along to your favourite songs!! Pretend you are Taylor Swift! Play some Air Guitar! Go crazy with this one and just let loose!!

4 – Have a Nice Bath

This is something I don’t really do alot (I think this is true for a lot of people) but it is nice to pamper yourself every once in awhile. So, pull out those candles, your nice smelling soaps, bath bombs and bubbles and pamper yourself on the eve of a new year. Relax and enjoy a nice hot bath and reflect on the year that’s past.

5 – Movie or Tv Show marathon

Sometimes it can be hard to stay up until midnight, especially on your own, on new years eve. A perfect way to make sure you are preoccupied and do not fall asleep is by doing a movie or tv show marathon! It’s also a good way to catch up on a tv show you’ve fallen behind on or something you have been meaning to watch this year but hadn’t got to yet!!

That’s all for now! If you have more ideas of things you can do while home alone on New Years Eve I would love to hear them in the comments below!! Thanks for reading and I will talk to you guys’ again tomorrow!

Hope you enjoyed this Little Bit of Life.

Tips for Surviving The Cold

Hey Everybody! Welcome to Day 9 of Christmas + New Years’ with A Little Bit of Life!!!! I can hardly believe we only have 5 more days of these holiday posts and I really hope you guys’ have been enjoying all the posts this far, because I know I have enjoyed doing them for you! Today, I am writing to all the fellow canadians, or followers who live in cold climates this post is for you! I am going to be talking about some of the tips I have picked up over the years’ of how to survive those cold winters that we all dread every year because we can survive it together!!! Let’s do it!

I cannot stress this one enough. You MUST, without out a doubt, LAYER your clothing when you are going outside during the winter, especially for long periods of time. This is the best strategy to fight against the cold. Even if you get cold really easily like me, and it is at night during the winter when you feel the coldest, LAYER, LAYER, LAYER, those blankets my friends. And wear long pajama bottoms with cuffs at the bottom so they don’t ride up as you toss and turn. Mitts, hats, scarves, sweaters, heavy coats, and double socks should be your best friends.

Hot chocolate, tea, coffee whatever hot drink floats your boat I recommend keeping it on stock during the winter. Get yourself a travel mug so that you can drink it as you walk, bike, or drive to school or work. For me personally, I know this warms me up quick in the mornings when I have to walk through the cold to school. Also, hand warmers work well. Put them in your mitts, boots wherever and they will warm you up! Oh, and heated electric blankets if you can swing it. Those things are blessed. In summary, just surround your body with hot things and you will get warm. It’s physics.

Guys, there is this wonderful creation I would like to introduce you to called the weather network app. You can pretty much download it on any device, or if you don’t have a device, there is a thing called the Weather Channel on your tv. There is even a number in some areas that you can call that you will tell you the current weather condition in your region. These things will all do the same thing: which is tell you what the weather is like outside, and what is supposed to be like all day long. Every morning check this app, and if you know you are going outside that day, or even check it the day before, so you can adequately PREPARE yourself to brace the cold ahead. The more prepared you are, the better. The cold will never take you by surprise.

This kinda ties in with being prepared but make sure, before the season begins, that you have the proper gear to make it through the winter. When winter clothing goes on sale at your local stores go get everything you need to stay warm over the winter. Naturally, the more expensive the things are, the better quality it is, but if you live in a cold climate if you can afford it, I highly recommend you spend the money on the good stuff. Because even though it may cost more, it will last you longer/more winters because it is higher quality, and because it is higher quality, it will keep you warmer over many winters. This goes mainly for things like jackets and boots. For things like mitts, hats and scarves I wouldn’t worry about it as much. But definitely make sure you have several of those things on hand as well.

Although the cold, long winters kinda suck, there is no point in sitting around being miserable about it. Try to enjoy it and the many ups and downs that it brings because no matter what you do it will keep coming, but in spite of that we can try to embrace it and enjoy the beauty it brings. With this basic tips, if you follow them, you will have nothing to fear anyway! EMBRACE THE COLD MY FRIENDS!

Thanks for reading! Let me know what some of your prime tips and tricks are for defeating the cold in the comments below because I would actually love to hear them! There is still 5 more days of posts left, so don’t forget to stay tuned for the next bit of life I have coming for you tomorrow! Thanks again!

Hope you enjoyed this Little Bit of Life.

Spiel about My Christmas

Hey Everybody!! Today is Day 8 of Christmas/New Years’ with A Little Bit Of Life and boy has the time gone by fast! I can’t believe it’s already Day 8! Anyhow, since Christmas has just passed, and I haven’t really done a ‘life’ post yet during this past weeks’ series of posts, I thought it would be cool to share with you guys’ what I did for Christmas Day!!! And This years’ Christmas was pretty awesome, to be honest.

It started off with us all getting up at 8:30 (my bother, mom and I) to open presents with a family friend. My mum came and got me walking into my room yelling Merry Christmas and gave me a hug. Right after that we all went to the christmas tree and opened presents. (If you wanna see yesterdays’ post about what I got for Christmas, click here.) I loved all the things I received and seeing how much my mum loved the gifts we got her was pretty awesome.

After presents we had a super nice Breakfeast with french toast doused in maple syrup and icing sugar (or course) , bacon, and homefries which was all super yummy. After cleaning up, we spent the rest of the morning chilling out, lounging around the house, not doing too much of anything.

Eventually though, I had to get ready to head over to my aunt’s for the christmas’ dinner we were having with my dad’s side of the family. We drove downtown (where my aunt lives) and I got to see my aunts, uncles and grandpa which was lots of fun. We opened up more presents there and afterwards just kind of hung out, talked, and caught up on each others’ lives since we last saw each other. Later that evening we had our delicious turkey dinner, whilst playing with the things we each got in our christmas crackers, which happened to contain magic tricks this time. After our meal, and some second helpings, we had dessert which was some ice cream and a vanilla yule log. Both were equally delicious alone, but together were so great and christmassy. Afterwards, we talked some more and did the rest of our magic tricks. (Magic might be my calling guys’!) and we soon after headed home.

At home I spent my evening taking in the day, feeling thankful and just doing some more chilling because you can never chill too much. I went through my gifts again, watched a couple of episodes of star-crossed (which is an awesome tv show by the way) before going to bed overall.

Overall, it was a pretty great day and I am truly thankful for all I have, received, the food on my table and just the wonderful family and friends I have to celebrate with this holiday!

Thanks for reading! Let me know what you guys’ did for christmas or what some of your family’s xmas traditions are in the comments below! Thanks again!

Hope you enjoyed this little bit of life.

Go to Cozy Clothing For Winter

Hey Everybody!! Today is now Day 6 of Christmas with A Little Bit of Life, and it is hard to believe how fast this past week has gone!! I hope you all had a very nice christmas! I can’t believe that is over now as well. Where has all the time gone? Anyways, today I wanted to share with you guys some of my 4 favourite Winter clothing items that I have been enjoying so far this season. They are all very cozy and warm which is how I like my winter clothes! Let’s get started!

Chinese Laundry Black Leggings w/ Leopard Print

These lovely things are actually more of a mix of leggings and stockings and they are so nice and warm. On days when I’m just hanging out at home these are one of those go to items that I wear to get comfy. One of the reasons why they are so comfy is because They fit perfectly – they are not too tight, and cause I find the subtle leopard print cute.🐯

Garage Plaid Button Up Flannel

This flannel is the It is a very nice mix of blues and reds and is perfect for those really cold days cause it keeps you nice and toasty because it is made out of a quite thick, flannel material. What I like about it also is it works with jeans, leggings, fully buttoned, half buttoned, left open – and it will still be the coziest thing you will wear.

Forever 21 Cable Knit Knee High Socks

This socks, although not really good for wearing alone outside, are absolutely perfect for getting comfy inside with some pajama shorts. They keep your legs nice and warm , kinda like mittens. This is saying alot since I’m usually not a huge fan of socks…. But with these I have to make an exception because they’re awesome.

H&M Sparkly Long Sleeve

This long sleeve is very festive for the holidays, which makes it perfect for family get togethers and parties in the new year!! What makes it even better is that the inside is made of this fuzzy, sweatshirt – like material, that makes it warm and cozy while making you look sophisticated and party ready with all the sparkles.

That’s all folks!! I hope you enjoyed this post and have been enjoying all the ones I have done so far the past week. Let me know in the comments what some of your favourite winter clothing items are this season, or which ones are your favourite from the ones I listed above!! Thanks for reading and I will talk to you guys’ again tomorrow!!

Hope you enjoyed this Little Bit of Life.

Ways to Relax Over Christmas Holidays

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Everybody!!! I hope y’all are having a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends and that you have been enjoying all the posts I have done this past week. If you are like Christmas comes with a holiday from school and lots of free time that you don’t always know what to do with. So on this Day 5 of Christmas with A Little Bit of Life, I will be giving you guys some ideas as to what you can do this Christmas day and over the break in order to fully relax and keep busy!!! Without further ado, let’s get into it!!

#1: Have a Spa Day
It’s always nice to have a pamper day or spa day every once in awhile as a way to refresh ourselves and just relax, and Christmas & New Years’ Holidays is the perfect time to do this! This could mean having a nice bubble bath, doing your nails and toe nails, putting on a face mask, lighting some candles, whatever constitutes a spa day for you! But you should definitely make some time to do this, this break, cause you deserve it!!!

#2: Baking
Christmas and New Years’ is filled with TONS of food and treats that you give and receive from others, and eat at parties and other get togethers. So why not spend some time baking this Holiday. Yesterday, I did a quick post on how to make these super yummy mini apple pies, (click here to see that post) or there is tons of delicious recipes (to make stuff for lots of people or even just you 😉) that you can find online and on youtube. There is something out there for everyone and baking is a great way to relax over the holidays’.

#3: Catching Up on Tv Shows
For the past two christmas holidays off from school, I have spend the majority of my time binge watching some Tv Show. 2013 it was catching up on Grey’s Anatomy. 2014 it was watching the first 4 seasons of Lost. (Which is a great show btw) So if you are on break this winter, this is the absolute perfect time to catch up on shows you are behind on, binge watch shows that have finished, or check out shows that others’ have recommended to you that you haven’t had the time to watch yet. Trust me, it’s litterally the perfect time killer.

#4: Watch Christmas & New Year’s Movies
Christmas and New Year’s movies are one of those things that you can only watch once a year and without it, this holiday isn’t the same. It’s tradition!! So why not take advantage of that free time you have been blessedly given and watch all your favourite Christmas & New Year’s movies. If you need some ideas as to what to watch, I did a post on Monday that you can go read here, for some ideas.

#5: Spend Time With Family and Friends
No one should ever be alone on Christmas and you haven’t already, you should spend some time with your good friends and family this holiday. Call em’ up, text them, send them a smoke signal, contact them in anyway possible and get together and just have fun. You will never be bored with friends and family around.

And those are all my tips for you guys, on ways to relax and use up all of your wonderful free time this holiday!!! Thanks for reading and lemme know in the comments below some of the things you are using to keep busy over your Christmas’ breaks, or if you use any of these ideas!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Hope you enjoyed this Little Bit of Life.
